Connect your own carrier (SIP trunk)
Keep the numbers and the carrier you have — HANC connects to them over SIP.
Already have numbers and a carrier, or an office phone system? Connect it over a SIP trunk: calls to your numbers reach the agent, and the agent calls out through your carrier. Your carrier bills you for the line; HANC adds only your plan's per-minute rate, no destination charge.
Your own carrier works from the Pro plan, after a one-time compliance check by support — the same as for outbound campaigns. On Starter and in the free trial the SIP screen says it is available from Pro; after the upgrade it shows a way to ask for the check, and approval usually comes the same working day.
Supported carriers
| Carrier | How it connects |
|---|---|
| sipgate | Imports your numbers through its API (a personal access token with numbers:read) |
| Placetel | Manual setup |
| TENIOS | Manual setup |
| easybell | The credentials from the Kundencenter |
| Zadarma | An optional API key imports the numbers |
| Your own Twilio account | Account SID and Auth Token, or an API key |
| Custom SIP trunk | Any other provider: host, port, transport, username, password |
| SIP with registration | For phone systems that only route to registered extensions: HANC registers as one |
Connect it
- Open the SIP wizard
Phone Numbers → Buy Number → the SIP Trunk card, or Integrations → the Telephony tab → Connect SIP trunk.
- Pick your carrier and the direction
Choose the carrier from the list and the direction: both (default), inbound only or outbound only.
- Enter the credentials
The SIP username and password from your carrier; for some carriers, an API key to import the numbers. Click Connect.
- Import your numbers
Pick the numbers the wizard found, or add one by hand in international format, e.g.
+15054079172.With SIP with registration you can also add an Internal extension — a number on your phone system such as
102. It is reached through the registration, so no forwarding is needed at the carrier. - Forward the calls at your carrier, if asked
For carriers without automatic setup, the wizard shows exactly what to set in your carrier's portal. Do it once per number.
- Give each number an agent
Assign the agent that answers and, if you call out, the agent that calls — see Manage your numbers.
After it is connected
- Registration status. A trunk with registration shows whether HANC is registered on your phone system right now: Registered, Not registered or Unknown (Checking… while it looks). If it is not registered — after a password change or a restart of the phone system — reconnect it from the trunk's row.
- Port and transport. The SIP port and transport (UDP, TCP or TLS) are fields of their own, and the outbound port and transport can be set separately. Media encryption (SRTP) can be set per trunk.
- Allowed SIP IP addresses. For an inbound only trunk HANC needs no credentials: your carrier just sends the calls to our SIP address. List the carrier's source IP addresses under Advanced → Allowed SIP IP addresses, so that only it can reach your numbers.
- Forward to an extension. On a number connected through SIP with registration, Call Forwarding can put the caller through to an internal extension of the same phone system, e.g.
102— without a country code.
