Phone numbers

Keep your existing number

Callers keep dialling the number they know; you forward it to your HANC number and the agent answers.

You don't have to move your number to put an agent on it. Keep the line you already advertise and forward it to your HANC number: callers dial what they always dialled, and the agent answers — always, or only when you can't.

Forwarding is set on your phone or with your carrier, not in HANC.

Forward a mobile number

On most mobile networks you switch forwarding on by dialling a short code. Replace number with your HANC number in international format, e.g. +436641234567, dial it like a phone number and press call — the network confirms.

How long it rings first. With **61* you can say how long your phone rings before the agent picks up: **61*+436641234567*20# rings for 20 seconds. 5 to 30 seconds, in steps of five; 20 is a good default.

Which one to pick

  • Always — the agent is the front line; you take only what it hands over.
  • The three "when" ones together — you answer when you can, the agent catches the rest. The usual choice for a small business: nobody reaches voicemail.
  • When you are on another call — just to stop losing the second caller.

A landline or an office phone system

The codes above are the mobile standard. A landline or a phone system usually has forwarding in its settings or web portal — the idea is the same. Your carrier's support can set it up in a few minutes if you tell them the number to forward to.

Your carrier bills the forwarded leg

When your carrier forwards a call, it charges you for the leg from your number to the HANC number at its own rates — separately from what the call costs in HANC. Check with your carrier before forwarding many calls.
