Phone numbers

Buy a phone number

Get a number for your agent in a few minutes — Basic to answer calls, Advanced to make them too.

You can buy a number for your agent right in the dashboard. In Austria, Germany, Switzerland, the US and Canada it is live at once, with no documents; in other countries you upload a few documents first.

Before you start
  • Phone numbers need a paid plan that has started. In the 14-day free trial the agent works through the website widgets — Start plan now on Plan & Billing starts the plan at once.
  • Before the first purchase you confirm your own phone number by code. This confirms you, not the business.

Buy a number

  1. Open the buy screen

Go to Phone Numbers in the sidebar and click Buy Number.

  2. Choose what the number can do

SIP TrunkUse a number you already have, through your own carrierWherever your carrier worksNo number fee from us — see Connect your own carrier

If the agent will ever place a call, take Advanced: calling out cannot be added to a Basic number later. Outbound calls and campaigns need the Pro plan or higher, and the phone carrier of an outgoing call is paid from your extra balance — see Call credits.

  3. Pick the country and the type

The screen shows local, mobile, national and toll-free numbers for the country; types that are not offered there are greyed out. The monthly price stands next to each type and includes the Advanced surcharge when Advanced is picked.

    • Switzerland: local numbers are Zurich numbers (+41 44); mobile numbers are not offered for now.
    • Austria: mobile and national numbers are available as Basic too.
  4. Submit documents, if the country needs them

Outside Austria, Germany, Switzerland, the US and Canada, the carrier wants proof of who will use the number. A guided form asks for it — see Submit documents for a number. Once they are approved, the number goes live by itself.

  5. Pick the number and buy it

Choose a number from the list and confirm. The price is taken from your balance.

  6. Give it an agent

Assign the agent that answers calls to it — and, for an Advanced number, the agent that calls out from it. See Manage your numbers.

What a number costs

  • The monthly price shown on the buy screen, paid every 30 days from your balance at the price fixed when you bought it. If a renewal cannot be paid, the number is released and cannot be recovered — see Renewal.
  • Calls on the number are billed per minute: your plan's rate plus the destination charge — see How usage is priced.
  • Prices per country: Destination prices.

If your account came from an agency

An agency with its own telephony is the only source of numbers for its customers: the page shows no buy button and says to ask your manager — see Whose telephony.
